INDUSTRIAL LIGHT & MAGIC (ILM) / LUCASFILM SINGAPORE

Almost two decades ago, Transformers was released in cinemas. The robots were so realistic, and the fight scenes were genuinely intense. I came out of the cinema imagining cars on the road could transform. People paste Autobots & Decepticons stickers on their vehicles. The hype was real. I wish to be part team to create the movie.
Fast forward, during my high school days, YouTube were accessible. More behind-the-scenes videos were released on the platform. The name “Industrial Light & Magic” was mentioned many times.

Once I learn that there’s ILM here in Singapore, I decided to change course to Digital Animation to give it a shot! Long story short, with hard work and fate, I managed to secure a position as a Junior Texture Artist in ILM’s Digital Model Shop (DMS) team.

I’m thrilled to contribute a very small portion of ILM Singapore’s reel. Enjoy.

Even though my stay in ILM Singapore studio was short, I’ve met with lots of wonderful people here.

Firstly, our studio cleaner, Aunty Rose, thank you for making the studio clean and also chatting with me at the pantry during short breaks from work. She thought I was Japanese hahaha.

To our facilities department, Wee Ling & Bernard, thank you for organising lots of memorable events and feeding us! I miss the food we got for studio lunch. Wee Ling and Bernard, you are amazing!

To my Talent Managers (TM), thanks for pushing me and at the same time listening to my challenges.

To the Production team and VFX Supervisors, thanks for trusting me with the tasks even though I was mostly junior during that time. I hope the assets I worked on were good!

To artists across other departments that I've crossed paths with, you are amazingly skilled and hardworking! I miss working with the team!
